‘Beneath this mask, another mask. I will never be finished lifting off all these faces’ - Claude Cahun

Alexa's work explores character and expression, masquerade and gender. Using layers of oil paint, she plays with surface colour and texture to create figurative, but fluid paintings. Alexa uses photographs as a reference point, combined with costume, accessories and symbols to create enticing pieces. This work is supported by photographs and drawing, as well as recording observations and experiences.

She has a first class BA honours degree in Fine Art from Loughborough University, and will begin her MA Fine Art in 2011.
